Japanese Dividers And Their Endless Uses

As an accent or a focal point, the Jute Shoji Room Divider at Walmart will bring an Oriental touch to any room.  It is item number OFN1566 at walmart.com, and sells for $268 to $538, depending on the number of panels you order.  It is available with three to six panels and comes in natural, honey, and black finishes.  This free standing folding partition will be at home in a modern living room, or a room with an Asian décor.  Panels are 84 inches high and 17.5 inches wide.  This product can also be found at studentmarket.com.

Environmentally friendly and decoratively attractive, the Bamboo Matchstick Screen is a lightweight divider, making it mobile and easy to store.  Nanda manufactures this piece, available through a few retailers, including haikudesigns.com.  Search for this product, using item code, S-NAN-3NAT; it sells for $129.  As a replacement for a standard wall, or simply as a piece of artwork, this versatile divider offers a number of options.  Each of the three panels is 18 inches wide and 72 inches high. 

Wayborn manufactures a wide variety of quality partitions and privacy screens.  Their Wood 40-Panel Wood Divider is beautiful with hand painted Chinese characters of stained birch.  Fully constructed, the total width of this piece is 48 inches; it stands 36 inches high.  It is sold at kmart.com for $259.  If you like this design, you may be interested in searching for suppliers of Wayborn products.

For a more permanent solution, the Japanese Influence Sliding Door Kit in Natural Stain is sold at ivgstores.com.  This kit comes with top and bottom tracks and right and left door jambs.  This beautiful door wall is constructed of dried spruce and reinforced rice paper, allowing privacy without losing the flow of light.  The set is sold for $667.25; search for the product SKU ori-SHOJI-DOOR-DBLS-Natural.  The dimensions on this partition are 80 inches high, 36 inches wide, and 1 inch thick.  It also comes in black, honey, and rosewood.
